Designer Spotlight Interview

As I posted about up-and-coming jewlery designer, Kelsey Brennan, I scored an interview with her and thought I would share some insight with StilettoStyle readers! Enjoy! XO

StilettoStyle: What inspired you to start this jewelry line?

Kelsey Brennan: It's always been a secret dream of mine, to work in the fashion industry that is. I have a huge obsession with jewelry (specifically turquoise), but I have such a hard time finding pieces I like. So, I decided to make my own. I started avidly looking at fashion blogs, and I began drawing my own designs and researching where to buy supplies and how to make jewelry.

SS: What was your first piece? And did you ever think this would become a business?

KB: The first piece that I made was a "statement necklace". I put it on Facebook and Instagram and got an overwhelming amount of positive responses. After that, I decided to design more pieces. I never even considered selling my stuff because I had no idea anyone would really like it, but so many people have asked to buy from me so I am setting up my Etsy site.

SS: What is next for your designs?

KB: I have about 5 other pieces in the works. I love the cross, skull, and spike trends that I am seeing everywhere, and I'm working on incorporating these trends in different ways. I'm working on two statement necklaces and lots of "arm candy". The next colors I'm trying to work with are cranberry, forest green, dark blues, and lots of gold.
