Pastels perfected

Pastels can be a tricky shade to pull off. The myth goes that darker shades slim down a figure, and lighter shades do just the opposite. It's either that excuse, or adult women suddenly feel as if they are in gradeschool going to church when they wear pastels. It's as if pastels are saved only for boring tea with the in-laws. It is sad that pastels get a bad reputation, because when paired correctly with tailored pieces, pastels can easily be perfected. Watch and learn as pastels get a little rebellious below...

I love how Gaga plays with such a girly look. The light pink top is a perfect match when tucked into such a gorgeously structured skirt.

Lily Collins light blue shade is a gorgeous contrast to her dark features. I love the tailored structure of the dress; it keeps it feminine and girly without looking too young.

Rachel Bilson was looking flawless as she arrived to the Live! with Kelly show in New York. Her girly dress is perfectly paired with her light pink tailored blazer. Her tailored blazer makes the whole look seem more "grown-up", while she kept it light and breezy with keeping within lighter tones.

This pastel suiting option is brilliant. I love how the bottoms are shorts instead of pants or a skirt; such a fun take on spring pastels. It's also a brilliant way to mix pastels into the work wardrobe. You can also wear just the shorts with a tee and wedges, or try the blazer over a summer dress (like Rachel Bilson did, above). What is not to love about ladylike Reese? The pastel blue dress is perfectly tailored to her waist, hugging in all the right places. Paired with ballet flats and chic shades, she resembles a modern day Audrey Hepburn; and I think Hepburn would be proud!
